Comments:
Wish you all a very happy New Year. It was lovely to see all our little friends after such a long gap.
We started with some Yoga stretches and few simple poses to get settled in. With a nice deep breath, we chanted Om three times and 'Om Ganeshaye Namaha'.
We have been really busy learning many new Stotras in the past weeks....today, we reviewed those stotras "Subham Karoti" and "Karagre Vasthe Lakshmi" and "Buddhir Balam" for Hanumanji and spoke about the significance of these prayers. The children did an awesome job reciting.
Quiet time was followed by chanting the first and second shloka from chapter 14 in the Bhagvad Geeta. The kids are doing amazing with their chanting. Thank you parents for helping them practice through the week. We started to learnt the third shloka today.
During Sanskrit learning we practiced our counting in Sanskrit and also learnt to recognize our numbers from 1-10. We also started to learn how we say the colors in Sanskrit. We did 'Raktah' for Red, 'Pitah' for yellow, 'Neelah' for Blue, and 'Harithah' for Green. We will continue to add to this in the coming weeks.
For deity recognition we saw the pictures of Krishna and Yashoda. We heard some amazing facts about Kishna's childhood with Mother Yashoda.
In response to popular demand, we continued to practice the Bhajan "Ganapathi Ganapthi" and the children had fun clapping and singing to this song with lots of rhyming words. The children had loads of fun trying to sing it faster and faster....! We also learnt a new Bhajan, 'Great God Hanumanji'. This follows the same tune as couple of earlier bhajans. The kids had no trouble picking up the words and actions.
At story time we heard the story of 'The General's Horse'. This is a Spanish Folk Tale and through the story we saw that when we work together cooperatively we can achieve anything. The animals in the story worked cooperatively to help the General's Horse who was in terrible pain. The kids enjoyed this story.
After story time we worked on our ऊँ likita japa. The kids did an awesome job of writing.
For Art Activity, the children drew and colored a picture of a mouse and learnt the word for 'Mouse: Mooshakah'
We ended our class with the closing prayers. Aarthi and pledge was in the auditorium.
Have a great week. Stay warm!
