Comments

We started with some Yoga stretches and few simple poses to get settled in.   With a nice deep breath, we chanted Om three times and 'Om Ganeshaye Namaha'.

We reviewed the stotras we have leanrt so far "Subham Karoti" , "Karagre Vasthe Lakshmi", and  "Buddhir Balam" for Hanumanji.  We spoke about the significance of these prayers.  The children did an awesome job reciting.  They are ready to now learn some new ones.

Quiet time was followed by chanting the first, second, and shloka from chapter 14 in the Bhagvad Geeta.  The  kids are doing amazing with their chanting. Thank you parents for helping them practice through the week.

During Sanskrit learning we practiced our counting in Sanskrit and also learnt to recognize our numbers from 1-1. 5 We also started to learn how we say the colors in Sanskrit.  We did 'Raktah' for Red, 'Pitah' for yellow, 'Neelah' for Blue, 'Harithah' for Green,i 'Shwetha' for White and 'KrishnaH' for Black.  We will continue to add to this in the coming weeks.

For deity recognition we reviewed all the pictures of the God/Goddesses we have seen thus far.

In response to popular demand, we continued to practice the Bhajan  "Ganapathi Ganapthi"  and the children had fun clapping and singing to this song with lots of rhyming words.  The children had loads of fun trying to sing it faster and faster....!  We also sang the new Bhajan, 'Great God Hanumanji'.  This follows the same tune as couple of earlier bhajans.

At story time we heard the story of  'Pythias and Damon'. This story comes from Greek Mythology and  of true friendship between two people. The kids enjoyed this story.

Keeping with the theme of friendship, we played a round of 'Mamah Namah' and learnt the names of ours friends in class.

We ended our class with Aarthi and the closing prayers.

Have a great week.  Stay warm!
