Comments:
It was lovely to see all the kids after a break, on this cold Fall morning.  The children are doing a great job of settling into our class and following the class routine.  It is unbelievable that its just been three weeks into the session.

We started our class with chanting 'OM' three times.  Then we did our Stotras.  We spoke about the significance of each stotra and the  which God/Goddess we are praying to with the stotra. It was amazing to see how much the kids already knew.  Great job parents!  We continued to practice our first shloka for the Geeta Chanting.  The kids are following along very well.  We will continue to practice the first shloka all through this month.

In our Sanskrit segment we learnt to count from 1-10.  We also saw how the numbers were written in Sanskrit.  We then colored in our numbers. During Likita Japa we tried to write ऊँ again. The children did very well. Many of them were able to make the strokes with confidence. You can continue to practice this at home.

On the whole, it was a great class. The children did an amazing job of listening and following instructions.  We hope the children had fun today.  We sure had a great time.

We look forward to seeing you all next week.

Homework:

• Sanskrit Numbers 1-10 Flash Card Set
Sanskrit Numbers 1-10 Coloring Pages
• OM Tracing Sheet (Click on the image and then print.)

This OM is meant to be laminated (8.5 x 11) so that the children can practice writing their strokes correctly. We like to use Crayola Washable Markers on the lamination sheet, so that it can be easily washed off for the next writing session. Dry Erase Markers also work well -- you just need a bit more elbow grease to get the sheet clean. Having the children color the OM can also be a nice way for them to quieten their minds and meditate on God.
