Comments:
Before we recount today's happenings, we have to mention what a great job the parents did at dismissal! Thank You parents for walking with the children to the auditorium. It made the process of bringing the children to the auditorium smooth. We look forward to doing this again next time when we have Aarthi and Pledge in the auditorium.
On that note, we had a great class today. It seemed a little short, but I guess when we are all having fun, time does run by really fast. We started with chanting 'Om' and went on to say our four Stotras. The children did an awesome job at 'Quiet Time'. They where able to focus and stay quiet for almost a minute and a half in spite of all the noise outside. We went on to do our Geeta chanting and continued to practice Shloka 1. The kids were able to follow along well. After chanting the Geeta, we enjoyed singing "Ganapati Ganpati". The kids wanted to do it faster and faster, it was awesome!
After all that excitement, we settled down to hear the story of "Eat A Mango Where No One Can See you". Through the story kids were introduced to the concept of God is Everywhere. We spoke of some places where we can find God. The children really contributed to this discussion. We went on to talk about Goddess Saraswati and the upcoming festival of Navarathri.
We have to share how impressed we were with the children following instructions on the proper writing strokes for ऊँ during Likita Japa. Even though its just been couple weeks since we started writing ऊँ. The children are getting confident in the writing strokes... everyone listened carefully and followed the correct writing sequence when writing on their tracing sheets. So, our guess is that we will be able to advance into learning how to write राम sooner than we thought! We also practiced our Sanskrit number recognition.
Before closing, we played a fun and energetic game of "Krishna Vadati" which left the aunties exhausted ;)
Have a great week and look out for our emails on Cord Walkathon!

Homework Fun:
• Number Identification: This is a Coloring/Activity packet for children to learn numbers 1-10 (in Sanskrit.) We would like the children to continue practicing their number identification at home throughout the week. Once we feel that the children have a good handle on this, we will introduce lots of fun "Connect the dots" and "Color by Number" Activity Sheets.
• OM Tracing Sheet (Click on the image and then print.)
