Comments:
- We did the beginning prayers with Mamatha Aunty today. Priyanka, Aditi and Manasvi came up to do it on their own - they made a pretty picture and we wished we had got the camera today :-)
- We introduced a new Shloka today - Gurur Brahma - and to our surprise, most of them seemed to know it already so we introduced one more new Shloka - Sarva mangala mangalye!
- We had fun doing the bhajans. Most of them have got the 'Great God Ganapathy' very well. We had to stop in the middle of the 'My God is Great' because Jayashree Aunty was suddenly stuck and forgot the words (and remembered as soon as she returned home!!)
- We then reviewed the story of Lord Rama from last week and had a quiz to make sure they remembered all the names and places. They did very well but we did get some funny answers too - when we asked what kind of army helped Rama to fight Ravana - someone replied 'Lambs' and another person voted for it too!! :-))
- We then had fun acting it out - Jayashree Aunty had got some props like crowns, bow, monkey masks, flower garlands etc. Our cast included Vinu as Dasarath, Abhinav as Rama, Rohan as Lakshman, Bharath as Bharath, Vedhas as Shatrugna. The boys pretended to study, learn archery and ride horses. And then Rama went to Mithila to lift the bow and married Sita (Manasvi) and returned back to Ayodhya. Ravana (Siddharth) came and dragged Sita away and then Rama and Lakshmana searching for Sita met Sugriva (Priyanka) and made friends. Hanuman (Aditya) leaped to Lanka and met Sita and reported to Rama. And then the class split up into two - with some of them being part of the Vanara Army and the rest helping Ravana and they had fun acting out the battle! When Rama came back to Ayodhya with Sita on the airplane, all the people of Ayodhya lighted lamps and celebrated.
- We then practised our first Shloka of Gita. We were happy that Priyanka has the first Shloka memorized completely. In fact, by the end of the class, almost all of them got the Shloka with just a little bit of prompting. We hope the parents can practise it at home with them so that they don't forget it before the next class. Maybe, they will even get a special prize if they can come to the front and chant it correctly next class.
