Comments:

  • We started the class pretty late today - there were hardly 5 or 6 kids at 10am - probably due to all the Diwali festivities :-) It was very nice to see many of them wearing their lovely new Diwali dresses. And we got to hear who all had besan laddu and jilebi for breakfast!! :-)
  • We have a few volunteers to do the initial prayers for next week - Aditi, Mahati, Daksha and Abhinav.
  • Since they all did so good on the Ganapathy Bhajan, we started a new Bhajan - My God is so Great - with actions. They picked it up quite well.
  • Mamatha Aunty brought us a coloring project - it was a pleasant surprise to see how well they are coloring and even writing their own name - they are definitely ready for Kindergarten!!
  • Jayashree Aunty told the story of Lord Rama very briefly - how Rama was born, and married Sita, and went to the forest, where Sita was kidnapped by Ravana and how Rama found Sita with the help of Sugriva and his army and defeated Ravana and returned back victoriously to the great joy of the people of Ayodhya (one reason why Diwali is celebrated). Next week, we will try and act it out in class.
  • We then practised our first Shloka of Gita. Next week, it is going to be girls vs boys to see who can do the first Shloka better on their own.
  • They then got to play with our new friend Hanuman today with Jeevan uncle - they got to hug and touch Hanuman if they answered questions on the story and Hanuman made everyone laugh by jumping on their heads :-))
  • We then finished up with the ending prayers and lined up to go to the auditorium. All in all, it was a pretty good class and everyone seems to be quite familiar with the class routine and rules and are participating very well in class. It is nice to see that many of them have made new friends too in the class.

Reminders:

  • Please remember that absolutely no eating or drinking is allowed inside the classroom because of school rules and allergy problems. Kindly don't send in any snacks with the children to eat in class.
  • Our dismissal procedure was a bit haphazard today because many people wanted to pick up before we left for the auditorium. It would be better if parents picked up in front of the auditorium - otherwise we are all delayed and risk interrupting the events in the auditorium when we enter late with a bunch of noisy kids. Please co-operate with us.
